Patchogue's Warm & Caring Environment for NY Pets — Especially Yours!

Paumanok Veterinary Hospital provides the highest quality veterinary care combined with ethics, compassion, and community involvement. With more than 50 years of combined experience caring for animals, Paumanok provides a warm, friendly environment where you will be able to relax while you and your pets are treated with skill, respect, and dignity.

We are passionate about developing a comprehensive and cooperative plan that encourages you to work with Paumanok as a team to help your pet to live a long and happy life. Whether this is a first visit for vaccinations, routine surgery such as spay or neuter, or something much more serious, maybe even life threatening, we will be with you, helping you to help your family pet — and helping you to make both the simple and difficult decisions. Our goal is to foster a trusting and lifelong relationship.

The word “paumanok” is a Native American word for Long Island and means “island in the shape of a fish.” Our roots are from Long Island. We want to be part of the community, and our involvement with our community is diverse and wide, from helping young people to become more aware of careers in the veterinary medicine field to raising awareness of environmental issues. We sponsor several fundraisers over the course of the year.

We look forward to seeing you and your pet soon!

Since opening for business in 1992, husband and wife veterinarian team—Dr's Dee and David Hensen have been proactively involved in raising funds for various causes—and to date, they are very proud to state that the Paumanok Veterinary Hospital has raised over $68,000. Dr's Dee and Dave believe in passing on the good fortune that they have received, and so community service in many forms is an integral part of the Paumanok Veterinary Hospital philosophy.

“I have been taking my many pets to Paumanok Veterinary Hospital for close to 20 years. In fact, I think my dog Seltzer was one of their first clients. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Both Dr. Dee and Dr. Dave have demonstrated not only skill, but also compassion when dealing with my many pets. They take time to explain options and answer my MANY questions. I have also found their staff to be terrific! When I lost Seltzer after over 16 years, they grieved with me. The Hensens cared for her since she fit in one hand, and they shared my grief not only as vets, but also as friends. They are wonderful professionals, human beings, and friends. I couldn’t recommend Paumanok Veterinary Hospital more. ”
