COVID UPDATE and OUR VISITS
Starting Sunday, Aug. 8th, Paumanok Veterinary Hospital will start temporary hours until further notice:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 5pm
- Wednesday from 8am to 8pm
In addition, Dr. Deirdre M. Hensen and Dr. David Roy Hensen of the Paumanok Veterinary Hospital, are concerned about safeguarding the welfare of our staff and clients regarding Covid-19 and the current variant. Therefore, we are modifying our curbside policy to be in accordance with Center for Disease Control (CDC) and New York State Veterinary Medical Society (NYSVMS) guidelines. As of Wednesday September 1st, only clients who have been fully vaccinated against Covid will be allowed into our facility by showing proof of their vaccination card.
Exceptions to this policy are those who can’t be vaccinated due to medical reasons or religious exemptions, and end of life situations. Unvaccinated children under the age of twelve will be allowed in when accompanied by their vaccinated parent. Children twelve years and older will need to show proof of vaccination.
In addition, we are continuing to mandate that all staff and clients wear masks upon entering the hospital whether vaccinated or exempt. We will have curbside services for those clients that are not vaccinated or unable to provide proof of their Covid vaccination. In these cases, staff will bring the pet into the clinic, and we will communicate with the client on their cell phone regarding their pet’s visit with us. We believe that this policy change is in line with Paumanok’s mission statement to be of service to our community while providing to the best of our ability a safe healthy environment for all.
Thank you for understanding and please know that this policy is about keeping everyone healthy and safe during these challenging times. Dr. Dee and Dr. Dave recommends getting the vaccine if you are not already vaccinated.
