Dr. David R. Hensen
Dr. Dave graduated from veterinary school in the Dominican Republic in 1982, where he learned to speak Spanish fluently. He has a keen interest in diagnostic ultrasound. In 1988, he became a Diplomat of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, a prestigious honor that recognizes him as a specialist in the practice of companion animal veterinary medicine.
Dr. Deirdre M. Hensen
Dr. Dee sees avian patients at Paumanok. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and has served as president of the Long Island Veterinary Medical Association (LIVMA). Dr. Dee is a liaison to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County and in recognition of her outstanding work with LIVMA, she was presented with the Stanley M. Aldrich Award. Membership affiliations include: the New York State Veterinary Medical Society (NYSVMS); the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA); the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV); the Association of Exotic Mammals Veterinarians (AEMV); and the Veterinary Dental Society (VDS). Special interests include riding and caring for her horses and chickens. She supports paralysis research in human and veterinary medicine with proceeds from the sale of her very own freshly produced hen eggs going to the Christopher Reeve Foundation and the Center for Paralysis Research at Purdue University. Dr. Dee enjoys attending events as well as spending quality time with her extended family from Long Island and abroad through her participation in the Stony Brook International Host Family Program. In addition, she volunteers for Meals on Wheels and the League of Women Voters of Brookhaven.
Dr. Maggie Camilleri
Dr. Maggie is a Patchogue native who has returned home to work in, and give back to, her community. She attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical training at the University of Florida. Her professional interests include surgery, dermatology, behavior, and integrative medicine (including acupuncture, laser therapy, physical rehabilitation, and herbal medicine). She enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending her free time with family and with her own dog, Gidget.
Dr. Stuart E. Gross
Dr. Gross knew he wanted to become a veterinarian when he was just 9 years old.
He realized his childhood dream and has applied his love of medicine and surgery to helping animals.
Since 1965, Dr. Gross has been a veterinarian in clinical small animal medicine. He built, owned, and operated three veterinary clinics on Long Island. Dr. Gross served as a New York State Board Examiner for the Veterinary Medical Boards and spent 15 years as an Adjunct Professor of Pathology for the New York School of Osteopathic Medicine, located on the campus of New York Tech.
After a short retirement, Dr. Gross returned to his chosen profession and has recently joined the team at Paumanok to continue using his knowledge and expertise in veterinary medicine to serve the Long Island community!
